Five Reasons Why IGLOO ATLANTA Should be on Your Party Bucket List
I finally had the pleasure of experiencing Igloo Atlanta and I enjoyed every minute of it. I had so much fun that I had to write about it. Here are five reasons why I would recommend attending one of the biggest annual parties in Atlanta.
1. You Can Bring Your Own Booze
Igloo is a cooler fete party which means, you are allowed to bring your own cooler filled with booze, food and any other party safe items. Usually, everyone in your group would bring a bottle of whatever type of alcohol they like. I find that people are more willing to share when they see you have contributed to the cooler. This makes a great opportunity to try different drinks and broaden your liquor horizons.
2. Great Music Variety
The DJ played a variety of music including Afro-beat, Dancehall, Dance Pop, Hip/Hop, R&B, Reggae and Soca. I haven’t met many people in Atlanta that listen to a wide range of music like me. Whether I’m with family or friends, I‘m usually introducing others to the different types of music that I listen to and shying away from my true excitement for non- American music genres. This is one party that I feel comfortable dancing to all of my music favorites without feeling like an outcast. The large music playlist creates a space for everyone that attends to feel comfortable and learn about popular rhythms from all over the world.
3. You Can Make New Party Friends
I attended Igloo with a friend who had invited a group of us that were interested in the event. I appreciated meeting and partying with the new faces. We enjoyed our time so much together that we are planning to attend Igloo next year and looking for other activities to enjoy later during the summer. I also ended up running into old friends from high school and college, some of whom had traveled from out of town with others just for the fete. I was able to mix and mingle with their new friends while catching up on old times. The party was a great space for a friend reunion.
4. It’s Fun in the Rain or Shine
This pic was taken after it rained. Don't I still look happy?
It rained at Igloo this year, but only for a short while. Surprisingly, the rain made the experience even more exciting. The music speakers were equipped to work in the rain and we were able to keep dancing and drinking. Normally, I wouldn’t hangout in rain, but I couldn’t resist the fun I was having. Why spoil all of your plans over a little water? Since the weather was warm, we dried quickly after the twenty minute downpour. Atlanta usually experiences a lot of rain from April through June so it would be unwise to not carry an umbrella to any outdoor event during this time. Fortunately, rain is no match for this party.
5. Its’ Bigger Every Year
Apparently this event has grown every year since its debut in 2015. This year, the venue was moved to Turner Field just to accommodate a larger crowd. If the venue sizes are increasing and people are traveling from out of town to attend, then Igloo Atlanta must be a hit. When it’s all said and done, crowds don’t lie.
Igloo tickets tend to sell quickly. To guarantee entry at an affordable rate, I would suggest purchasing tickets as soon as they are posted. Ticket sales usually open in late winter.
I know that I am definitely partying with Igloo Atlanta for years to come.
