Bliss Lounge:

Dexta Daps at Bliss Lounge, February 16, 2018

There aren’t many music venues that cater to live Dancehall and Soca music in the South. When they appear, they often don’t stay around too long. Fortunately, Atlanta (rather Decatur) now has Bliss lounge. Over the last six months, there have been several Caribbean concerts at this venue. I was able to purchase a ticket to see Dexta Daps in February. I purchased a regular early bird ticket as I didn’t believe the V.I.P. package would include much more. The venue is divided into two sections- the V.I.P area which includes V.I.P section tables and an open dance floor and the general club area that houses the bar. The club space is a great size. And the venue is decorated nicely. However,  once the concert started it was hard to get a good view of the artist from the general area. Being only 5 foot 3 inches, I had to hold my phone high in the air to take clear pictures of Dexta. Honestly, I didn’t like the feeling of having to push and squeeze my way through others to see the performance.  Overall, the concert experience was worth the price ($25). I plan to attend Bliss Lounge again and I will definitely pay for V.I.P. my next visit

Terminal West

Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony at Terminal West, January 21, 2018.

I absolutely love this venue. If you are looking for a casual intimate concert experience without the stress of selecting seats, this is the place for you. All you have to do is show up and choose any area of the venue to stand and enjoy the artist. There is also a balcony to view the show from a higher level.  The bar service is great and there is a café on the other side of the venue that serves yummy snacks such as, wings, fries, sandwiches and even coffee. I had the pleasure of seeing Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony and Chronixx (my favorite) within the last year here. I enjoyed  both shows and am looking for more concerts to attend at Terminal West. If you plan on attending a concert at Terminal West, I ‘d recommend arriving closer to when the doors open to guarantee a good spot closer to the stage. If you arrive late, you will definitely have to stand in the back, far from the stage.

City Winery

Morgan Heritage at City Winery Atlanta, May 22, 2018

Analea Brown, the opening act for Morgan Heritage.

Located in Atlanta’s Ponce City Market, City Winery is the ultimate spot for dinner and music. This is a popular date night venue, but also perfect for families, friends and even solo parties. The winery has a plethora of wines, local and international, to choose from and a lovely dinning menu. The seating map consists of tables that are grouped together in rows, making it impossible to not mix with other strangers attending the event. I recently attended a Morgan Heritage concert with my mother. We were both impressed with the dinning service and of course we loved the music performance. Morgan Heritage is one of our favorite reggae bands so it was rewarding to be able to see them perform in an intimate setting for an affordable price. City Winery has a ton of music performances  of award winning artist from all over the world and the company has locations in many major American cities. I would definitely recommend this place as I‘m sure there is a show here for everyone.
